The Burmese is a medium size cat with a broad chest and a heavy muscular body.  The coat is a very dark, close lying, sable brown.  The eyes are large, round and gold to yellow in color.  The head type varies from pug with a short broad muzzle and a prominent nose break to a longer muzzle with a more gentle break.

Burmese are "people" cats who require affection and rule the house with a velvet paw.  They can be quite vocal with a soft chirping voice.  Active even into old age, they love to play with a paper bag or ball and can sometimes be taught to fetch.  They are generally healthy and easy to care for and often live into the late teens.

For more information about the breed, go to  cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/burmese.html.

At Panthat Cattery we work with contemporary bloodlines that emphasize a short broad muzzle that meets a very round skull at a fairly sharp angle (imagine a ball with a strawberry box for the muzzle).

Kittens who closely match the breed standard are retained for our breeding program, placed with other CFA breeder/exhibitors or, occasionally, made available to a purchaser who is interested in showing but not breeding.

Kittens who do not meet our highest standards are made available for purchase to approved pet homes.  If you are interested in purchasing one of our pet or show quality kittens or a retired adult breeder, please complete the attached no obligation application to purchase.  Return by eMail Karen  or snail mail to Karen Thomas, PO Box 158, Ellenwood, GA. 30294 and you will be contacted when an appropriate kitten or cat becomes available.

Pet quality kittens are $700 including spay/neuter, all appropriate vaccinations, and health guarantee.  They may be transferred to their new owners at 9 to 14 weeks of age.  Kittens may be picked up at our homes, at a show, or we will meet you half way or at the Atlanta airport to deliver a kitten.  Under certain circumstances, kittens may be shipped by air.  Purchaser will be expected to pay for a shipping carrier, health certificate, and the cost of shipping.  The price for adult cats varies depending on age.

Special arrangements can be made for purchasers interested in purchasing a cat for showing.  Burmese cats are excellent show cats for beginning exhibitors.  If started early they often enjoy traveling and they love to be handled and shown.  They are usually easy to groom; requiring regular brushing, a bath and toenail trim.
